I’m a mom of four kids-two boys and two girls- so of course I pray for my kids constantly. But as 2014 came to a close I realized I was missing something big. Immediate needs and events consumed my prayer time, and I was leaving out some of the most needed prayer topics.
As 2015 began I chose sections of the Bible to pray through. Are you surprised to hear that this was an even bigger blessing than I anticipated? I prayed though the bible, asking God to reveal what about each section applied to me and my husband, my kids, and our friends. It became a study and a devotional as well as prayer time. It sparked conversation with my kids and my friends, and I believe God used this process to bring to my attention issues that my kids are facing every day.
Life got busy and I took about a two year break from recording my prayers. Our family is in a totally different season now- just look how much everyone has grown from 2015 to today!
And that is just the four living under my roof. When I talk about “my” children, I include my friends’ kids, my kids’ friends, and so many others.
Life has reminded me how deeply important praying for our children is. Our oldest has navigated the first two years of college and three big summer adventures, our second is starting college in the fall, and the younger two are well into life choices and decisions. So I want to start again, and I hope you will come along- whether your child is one of the ones I call “mine” already or not!
