Friendship

“I’m starting to realize my friends are just good people” my 13 year old told me Sunday.  With a bursting heart I hear him talk about how glad he is that his friends keep their language and conversation clean, and always act just the way they are–it doesn’t change based on who is around.  Perfect? No way.  But my kids are truly blessed with good friends, and I thank God for them and for the parents who are raising them.

The thing is, I pray my kids would BE good friends as well.  It can be hard sometimes- the  grace, forgiveness, patience that it takes to be a friend. The wisdom to choose wisely, or to know when it is time to let go.  The boldness to speak, or the discernment to be quiet. And the sense to realize that it all begins at home.

Father, please grow our children and their future spouses in their relationships with friends and family.  I pray they will have and be friends who are loyal, loving and godly. #prayersformychildren2017

  1. I love these thoughts…can I so relate. The friends our children choose are so important…because they can either draw you closer to Christ or further from Him. I am so glad Grant has a group of Godly wholesome friends. I am so thankful God sent your family to cross paths with ours. I, too, pray God surrounds our children with good Godly people that build each other up. I also pray they take a stand for what is right when they are faced with adversity in this life. Thank you for these prayers!!!

  2. Deet and Steve, I saw this because of your friend and mine, Mary Lee Cunningham. I saw the picture of Grayson, Grant, and your youngest daughter. I didnt see a picture of Isabelle, though. Dick and I live in two places, Indianapolis and Jonesboro, AR. That’s how I know Mary Lee. I would love to see you guys again. Maybe some day!
